This dataset was obtained from the United Nations Children's Fund
web site, http://www.unicef.org/statis/.  It contains the following
variables on countries in Latin America:

  infant mortality rate:  number of children who die between birth
      and one year of age per 1000 live births

  female literacy rate:  percentage of women aged 15 and over who
      can read and write
