The U.S. Federal Highway Administration conducts annual surveys on motor
vehicle travel by type of vehicle and publishes its findings in
Highway Statistics.  Independent random samples of cars, buses, and trucks
provided the data on number of miles driven last year, in thousands, shown
in the file vehiclemiles.dat.
