Outline

The second semester of this two-semester sequence will cover roughly Chapters 6-12 of Casella and Berger.

Reading and Homework

Reading assignments for each day will be placed on the web approximately a week in advance. You should read the assigned material before coming to class. Two to three problems will be assigned each class. The problems are usually due the Friday of the week they are assigned. The assignments and due dates will be posted on the Web.

Exams and Grading

There will be two midterm exams, tentatively scheduled for the class periods on Wednesday, February 26 and Wednesday, April 2. The final exam is scheduled for 9:45-11:45 on Thursday, May 15. The final grade will be determined 30% by the homework, 40% by the midterm exams, and 30% by the final exam. The lowest 25% of homework scores will be dropped before computing the final homework grade.

Late homework and missed exams cannot be made up, except as required by University policies (illness, mandatory religious obligations, and other unavoidable University obligations--University Operations Manual, 50.021).
