The $t$ Distribution

The commands pt and qt compute probabilities and quantiles (or percentiles) of the $t$ distribution. To compute the probability that A $t$ random variable with 4 degrees of freedom is below 2.31, use

pt(2.31, df=4)

To compute the 75-th percentile of the $t$ distribution with 7 degrees of freedom, i.e. qthe value $t^{*}$ such that a $t$ random variable with 7 degrees of freedom has probability 0.75 of being below $t^{*}$, use

qt(0.75, df=7)
