Scatterplots and Histograms

The position of the graphically represented keys can be found by moving your mouse on top of the graphic. 
The row of function keys: f1, f2, etc. do not count as a row. Row 1 starts with 

Entering data

Press The Apps Key: Row 2, Column 3, then arrow over to the Stats/List Editor. (It should be 3 down arrows and two right arrows.) Press The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5.  Now follow the instructions below.
one variable
Enter the x-values one by one, pressing The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 after each one.
two variables
Enter the x-values one by one, pressing The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 after each one. Press The Right Arrow - Above Right near the top row. to get to the second column. Enter the y-values one by one, pressing The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 after each one. 

 

Construct a ScatterPlot
  1. Press The f2 Key: Top Row, second from the left (The plots menu will fall down.) Then choose The One Key: Row 8, Column 2 for Plot Setup.
  2. Press The f1 Key: Top Row, first on the left for Define. A new window will appear
  3. The Plot Type choice should already be Scatter. If it is, press The Down Arrow - Above Right. If it isn't, press The Right Arrow - Above Right near the top row. The One Key: Row 8, Column 2 (for 1: Scatter) The Down Arrow - Above Right.
  4. Leave the Mark box alone, or press The Right Arrow - Above Right near the top row. and pick your favorite. This chooses whether the points on the scatterplot are dots, boxes, crosses, etc. Press The Down Arrow - Above Right.
  5. In the x-box, if it's empty, type in list1.
  6. In the y-box, if it's empty, type in list2.
  7. Press The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 to signal OK. You'll see the plot setup window again.
  8. Press The Diamond Key: Row 2, Column 1 The f3 Key: Top Row, third from the left, to see the graph.
  9. If nothing appears in the graph, you need to reset the window:
    1. Press The Diamond Key: Row 2, Column 1 The f2 Key: Top Row, second from the left.
    2. In the x-min, type in one less than the smallest number in your list.
    3. In the x-max, type in one more than the largest number in your list.
    4. xscl should be 1, unless you have very large numbers.
    5. y-min and max should be one less and one greater than the smallest and largest numbers respectively.
    6. yscl should be 1, unless you have very large numbers.
    7. xres should be 1.
  10. Press The Diamond Key: Row 2, Column 1 The f3 Key: Top Row, third from the left again to see the graph.

Construct a Histogram
  1. Press The f2 Key: Top Row, second from the left (The plots menu will fall down.) Then choose The One Key: Row 8, Column 2 for Plot Setup.
  2. Press The f1 Key: Top Row, first on the left for Define. A new window will appear
  3. Press The Right Arrow - Above Right near the top row. The Four Key: Row 7, Column 2 (for 4: Histogram) The Down Arrow - Above Right.
  4. In the x-box, if it's empty, type in list1.
  5. Choose the bucket width. You should choose it so that you have between 3 and 10 buckets. Press The Down Arrow - Above Right.
  6. Press The Enter Key: Row 9, Column 5 to signal OK. You'll see the plot setup window again.
  7. Press The Diamond Key: Row 2, Column 1 The f3 Key: Top Row, third from the left, to see the graph.
  8. If nothing appears in the graph, you need to reset the window:
    1. Press The Diamond Key: Row 2, Column 1 The f2 Key: Top Row, second from the left.
    2. In the x-min, type in one less than the smallest number in your list.
    3. In the x-max, type in one more than the largest number in your list.
    4. xscl should be 1, unless you have very large numbers.
    5. y-min and max should be one less and one greater than the smallest and largest numbers respectively.
